Everyone can draw

It's silly, because sure, not everyone likes to draw, but for whatever reason I never believe it when someone says they can't draw. P is a perfect example of this. He's said many things that all boil down to "I can't draw," and yet when I asked him a few years ago if he had any ideas about what my new email address should be, the best way he explained his suggestion was when he sat down and drew this:

Then there was the time I was working on a drawing for the Pet Beauty Contest and P had a "better" idea. "It should be like this," he said, and started drawing alongside me.

I didn't change my drawing, but I will always appreciate the awesomeness of the above sketch!

I also like the little sketch he did to show me an image he thought of when I mentioned Palm Springs (when I visited last year):

And my sister Brook gasped when she saw this one pinned to my bulletin board. "Oh my god, who is that?" she asked me. "Who do you think?" I said.

"That's you when you're really mad!" Brook said. Well, exactly. Brook looked at Paul with a real artist's admiration — he'd really captured something remarkably accurate!

O.K., obviously P and I spend a lot of time together and I have a lot of drawing stuff lying around. Maybe that's why someone who purports to be not the drawing type would suddenly get all sketchy. But my point is, I think it's usually total baloney when someone says they can't draw. I just don't believe them!

it's a born gift like blogging, we as humans can just rally the crap out of drawing, and thumb wrestling, of course, yeah?
