I interviewed with him once for an assistant job when he was working at Perry Ellis. As I walked into the interview he critiqued my outfit--love the jacket, early Ellis, nice with those trousers, nice clean hair, good barret. I think I would have got the job but I decided to stay in London instead. Living in poverty, or as close to it as I've ever come, making savory pies with whatever ingredients we had on hand. Spending my days in the Guild Hall library staying warm while researching the London sewer system. Ah, the good old days.
